Hotel Type

Luxury Resort

It's one of the island's true hotel darlings located on the peninsula tip of the Grand Cul de Sac. Flanked on either side by fine white sand beaches, the hotel sits on 16-private acres with views of the Atlantic and Marigot Bay. Visitors arrive to a traditional pitched roof lobby of glossy white paint and casual decor with a distinctly French vibe. The hotel is composed of interconnected cottages, dating back to the hotel's infancy, splashed in Caribbean colors of indigo blue and bright green. The grounds are meticulously landscaped with wild foliage intersected by wild coconut groves and hibiscus jungle. The lobby leads to a series of wooden walkways and the hotel's two signature restaurants that include gourmet Barto with its lively social scene. Booze-seeking revelers find little reason to leave the hotel with the all-day Beach Bar located between the main pool and beachfront lounge, more secluded Indigo with adjacent cafĂ© and late-night Bart'o Lounge that attracts a well-heeled local crowd. Visitors discover endless amenities like a Clarins Spa with salon by Frederic Fekkai and chic hotel boutique with designer accessories and beach goodies. Those traveling with the kids also find a convenient kindergarten day school that operates from 9am to 5pm, which is perhaps the chicest form of holiday home schooling you could ever find.

The Room

A total of 68 guest rooms and suites are constructed within bungalow-style plantation buildings offering unfettered views of the sea. Entry-level rooms consist of garden and bay views constructed under high, white-beam ceiling with period details like wooden windows and vintage doors. Walls are painted in contrasting shades of canary yellow, indigo blue and mint green with retractable glass doors that open to teak terraces outfitted with table and chairs. A distinctively Caribbean style is conveyed with dark plank floors and mostly-white color palette for furnishings and bedding. Bathrooms are arranged within free-flowing spaces with deep soaking tub, double basin vanities and collection of Clarins or Frederick Fekkai toiletries. A recent remodel resulted in an overhaul of several larger suites with more minimalist open-plan design for separate living and sleeping spaces. All of the suites are located on the bluffs above the ocean, many with private pools, where guests can enjoy the ultimate in privacy with direct beach access. Those looking for the ultimate in seclusion should book into the Villa Guanahani, a three-bedroom retreat with two full-time butlers and private infinity pool.
